What is the reason that BJP couldn't touch the magic number of 272?

The elections concluded with much grandeur and the results were awaited with baited breath by all. The toppers looked upon it as achieving All India Rank with record numbers while others saw it as  an opportunity to gain lost ground. It was a very well fought election from the both sides. The voters were offered different kinds of promises. Five years ago it was the slogan of 'Ayega toh Modi hi' which everyone knew that it was the writing on the wall any which ways. But this time around the BJP went a little overboard with its slogan ' Abki baar 400 Paar'. This slogan echoed the confidence of the party but somewhere it bought some kind of apprehension among the voters which the opposition was trying to instill.  The media diverted its attention towards the numbers but the opposition saw this as an opportunity to create anxiety among the voters that this kind of power will put democracy in danger. The carrying of the constitution everywhere and putting it in display and ...

Meditation – Chanting OM.

Namaste to all of you,

What is ‘OM’?

In Hinduism, OM is chanted almost in every mantra or stotra or divine recitation. It is part and parcel of the culture not just in Hinduism but also in Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. This word is not particularly attached to any religion but is considered the sound of the universe. Hinduism teaches that there is divine presence in every living being. This word however brings people together.

When said collectively it connects our inner divine soul to the other person’s divinity. As it chimes with the universe in which we live, it connects all the living things or beings to the nature and to the universe. This is my personal experience when I had started attending yoga classes. The best part is that the recital of OM can be done either silently or even done while practicing Pranayams.

Benefits of OM:

I have had immense benefits after I started reciting this daily while practicing yoga. I have the habit of chanting various mantras every day when I say my prayers. But I never knew that chanting this syllable alone can reap me such great benefits.

  •  Relieved me of anxiety and stress: I used to get anxious about petty things and did not know how to handle it. But once I started with yoga, chanting OM degenerated my stress a lot and I regained my calmness.
  • Better Concentration: The concentration ability of my mind increased many folds. I used to get upset by the fact that I am unable to not finish a book as I used to get bored of it or my mind used to travel on its own adventure trips. Once I started with this, my mind stopped its adventure trips.
  • Control of blood pressure during pregnancy even otherwise: Pregnancy is period when advise pour in from all sides and we get pressured unnecessarily by the this. Due to this, our blood pressure fluctuates. But the recitation of OM along with pranayams and a few simple yoga poses eased my pregnancy a lot.
  • Better Breathing: The chanting of OM begins with inhaling as much air as possible but at the end of it the exhale is exceptionally long.  This practice of inhale – exhale increases our breathing capacity and is beneficial for lungs and heart. It relaxed not just my respiratory system but also my mind.
  • Reconnection with my inner soul or divinity: It helps me explore my inner self and reconnect with my soul. This leads to relaxation, happiness, and personal satisfaction not just on personal level but even on spiritual level.

When I started with the yoga class, the meditation lessons used to be early in the morning. I used to get a little clumsy and lazy in the first few classes but when I realized the benefits of it, I started not just enjoying it, but I used to get up early even before the sun would show up. This joy and happiness have translated in whatever work I that I do. Now even my daughter does it but not with precision as she is just five-year-old, but she enjoys it thoroughly. Chanting of OM is great way to begin the day. It really kick starts your day on a positive note.

I am not a yoga instructor or an expert in yoga. It is just that I have been practicing yoga for around ten years now after attending a yoga class. Friends, before performing yoga please take medical advice. Again, I would like to remind you all that I am neither a medical nor a healthcare professional. My advice on yoga cannot take the place of a medical practitioner. So please consult your doctor if you have any medical problems.
