How to be different or unique from others

How to be different from others 1. Make decisions on your own and stick to them. Listen to the discussions going on around you. Be a good listener but go ahead with what you feel is right and make your own decision. Do not depend on others for the choices you make and be proud and hold yourself responsible for whatever choices you make. 2. Be honest to yourself. Never lie to yourself. Do not try to emulate others. Just be yourself and be proud of who you are. One should be honest not just to others but also to oneself as you yourself are answerable to your conscious  at the end of the day. 3. Accept your flaws. Not everyone is perfect. We are all humans, not superhumans or God. We must admit to ourselves the flaws that we have and try to work on improving ourselves. Don't try to act as a perfect person as it leads to being dishonest and displaying your artificial self out there in the society and to yourself. 4. Respect Yourself. Learn to adore and respect yourself. God has made

How to Improve your Memory - Brain Power

In our speech, sometimes, casually we say, "hey use your brain." Sometimes, when being forgetful, ask ourselves, "have I forgotten something?"

Brain is a storeroom of memories, powerhouse of intelligence, architect of our creativity, adviser to our body and its movements, analyst of our senses and source of our emotions.

It contains a depository of memories right from our childhood to present and continues to save it all, till the we exist. We study and play as children, work when we are adults, pursue our hobbies, etc. For performing all these tasks, our brain needs to remain sharp and attentive. These abilities of the brain helps us in executing our actions to perfection.

It is necessary for all of us to sharpen our memory power and boost the functioning of our brain. As we age, it doesn't remain as sharp as it used to be in the past. Instead of complaining about old age, start right from your hay days to program your skills. I hope all of you will find it interesting to know how you can go the natural way.

1. Practice Yoga: Yoga is not an exercise. It is a discipline which when inculcated in our daily life leads us to meet our happier and healthier self. I have personally experienced this.  It involves different poses (asanas), breathing mechanisms, and also meditation. Yoga helps you concentrate better which in turn increase your focus. Concentrate on your breathing when doing the yoga poses as well as your pranayams.

2. Exercise Regularly: Try jogging, walking which helps in concentrating the flow of the physical work. Also, relax your mind when walking. Sit quietly for sometime and enjoy the nature around you. Develop this habit of relaxing after brisk walks. It gives calm and joy to your mind. When we are close to nature, the mind feels happy as it sees beauty, serenity, calmness and innocent movements of the nature in the form of birds, animals, trees, clouds etc.

3. Unleash your best weapon - your smile :

As the old saying goes, ' Laughter is the best medicine.' Indeed,  it is true. It is the natural healer. Laugh at your own funny moments. Go down the memory lane. Have a look at your old photos.

Look at children. Talk to them. Listen to their chit chat. The joy it brings is immeasurable. They find joy in everything. I have tasted this medicine myself and believe me, it is the sweetest.

Laugh at your flaws and look at mistakes from lighter perspective. A happy mind will suggest you to do course correction.

4. Eat well, Sleep Well: Include green leafy vegetables, fruits and nuts, fish etc in your diet. Try to avoid junk food as much as possible. This helps not only your body but also your mind. Drink lot of water. And yes, sleep. Have an undisturbed and sound sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours per day.  It  has positive effects on your alertness, attention, creativity which helps you to process the information. This boosts your memory. Develop a sleep routine and try to avoid screen time before your sleep.

5. Learn something new: Learning is something which we shall never let go. It helps us to boost our confidence as well as sharpen our skills. Like learning a new language, trying a new sport or even painting, singing, dancing, knitting, learning pottery. All these require attention as well as our focus. These are only few examples. We try to comprehend, learn the words, rhythm, understand the meaning, the intricacies of the art work, the lyrics of the music etc which requires our mind to be aware. These skills help us in remaining aware, curious, creative, and develop our observation which is great for our memory.

6. Develop bonds:  We are humans and we are social animals. The more we interact, the more our conversation skills develops also listening skills develop. Pay close attention to what others are speaking and soak in the information. Friends are really important. Stay always in touch with them. Be part of volunteering, have a game of chess, recall your good old days and have fun.

7. Don't get stressed: Oh these deadlines! Will I get my promotions??? Projects, targets for the month, etc etc...The list is never ending. Make a routine in your work schedule. Take sometime off and look at your calendar and work accordingly. Automatically, things will fall in place. Do not set unrealistic targets for yourselves. Develop the habit of saying NO. This is important. Speak up if you have something on your mind. Do not pile up these things in your mind. Do not think about tomorrow, live in the present and the future will be fixed accordingly. Just do your job. Be thankful for what you have.

I would like to remind you all that I am neither a medical nor a healthcare professional. My advice on yoga cannot take the place of a medical practitioner. So please consult your doctor if you have any medical problems.
