Fetured Post

My way from corporate to role as home maker and now college life!!!

As a child, I used to play games with my siblings and friends and used to be school teacher for them. Draping a shawl borrowed from my mother's wardrobe, Closing the room, I used to grab my mother's economics book and read it. I was just 7 years old then.  I used stand in front of my little brother or sometimes no one , I used to hold a pencil and teach an empty room - the subject of economics. At that time, I never had any ambitions. It was just 'teacher - teacher' game.  As I started growing up, my friends started showing keen interest in science stream as there  was IT boom in that period. My relatives all around were encouraging their children to take up either the field of medical or engineering. As this trend continued, so did the emergence of coaching classes in various forms. But I had different idea. My parents never coerced me in taking a particular specialization. They completely left it to me and this was which I am very much thankful to them. After compl...

Harishchandrachi Factory - A tribute to Late Shri Dhundiraj Govinda Phalke

Harishchandrachi Factory – why we should not forget this great man.

Hey Everybody,

Like I had stated that I would be giving my perspective on movies. So, let me start with a Marathi movie. Marathi is one of the several languages spoken in India. And yes friends!!! Movies are made in various languages in India. I want to introduce all of you to all movies which are made in various languages not just in India but throughout the world. I find this quite extraordinary as I am not a writer or a movie critic or any profession related to movies. Hmmmm…. Let me put it this way – I am a movie buff. I inherit those genes from my dear mother who also is a cinema lover.

I thought it would be best to start with a man who created films for the first time in India –  Late Mr. Dhundiraj Govinda Phalke also known as Dadasaheb Phalke. He is also known as the Father of Indian Cinema. For this, I picked Harshchandrachi Factroy, a 2009 movie made on the struggles of how Mr. Phalke created films. Now why pick a movie which is 12 years old??? In today’s world of Netflix and Amazon, I was searching for a movie which was quite different, and I came across this movie  on Netflix, whose title seemed quite unique. I saw the description of the film and thought why not give it a try as there is the option of subtitles.

The film takes us back to the time of Mr. Phalke and how this one man struggled to make a movie in those times as called in the movie -  ‘moving pictures.’ I will not reveal the story of the film or give a review, but I would put forward my thoughts about the movie as my only goal is to inform people that a vast world of cinema prevails wherein such beautiful movies exist. People call him crazy; his friends even take him to the mental hospital. There is a scene in the movie wherein neighbors and friends come to his house to mourn the loss of the sale of a cupboard which was hilarious. There is not a single instance throughout the movie where we you will feel bored. The film is effortlessly engaging with a pinch of comedy and there is not a single moment where you will find yourself crying. The performance by the lead actor Mr. Nandu Madhav who plays the role of Mr. Phalke is good. He has done full justice to the great man.

A simple movie about an extraordinary personality who did not succumb to the pressures of the world around him. It shows the amazing willpower of Mr. Phalke who insisted on making movies even though he loses his eyesight partially (he regains it through treatment) as shown in the movie.

If life is a straight line a person walks through smoothly but when there are obstacles placed ahead ambitious, dedicated, and motivated individuals convert the obstacles into opportunities and revolutionize the world. This is the message that the movie conveys. I would recommend people to watch the movie but at the end it is your choice.

I hope you all enjoyed reading it. Keep watching for my next post. Follow me on Koo app and facebook.

Until then byeeeeeeeee friends.

Love You All,

Namitha
